The Lock Feature
What Is the Lock Feature and How Does It Work?
One important feature of the Immerse app is the Lock Feature — it helps keep your learning data safe when using multiple devices.
Why the Lock Feature Matters
To prevent any risk of data loss, Immerse only allows you to be actively working on one device at a time. This ensures your progress is saved correctly, no matter where you're using the app.
How It Works
- When you’re working on a device (like your computer), that device is unlocked.
- Other devices (like your phone) will be locked.
- If you try to use two devices at once, you’ll get a warning — this is to protect your data from syncing errors or being lost.
Switching Devices
To switch from one device to another:
- Lock the device you’ve been working on.
- Unlock the device you want to use next.
You’ll find the Lock/Unlock button at the top of any screen on the app.
What If I Get a Warning?
If you see a message that says the app is locked on another device, that means you’re still unlocked somewhere else. Simply return to that device and lock it — then you’ll be able to unlock the new one and continue working. This is important if you complete language learning with one device and study on another; make sure to lock the device you were studying on before you leave that device behind for a language session on a different device.
