The Lock Feature (DEPRECATED)
UPDATE as of 9/1/2026: Big news!
This update removes the (much hated) single device lock!
As a reminder, we introduced the single device lock two years ago after many users reported data loss due to using Immerse on multiple devices. Most users were unaware that the quiz tracks their review progress, so even simply reviewing their content on a device without a reliable internet connection could result in data loss.
This update significantly improves the quiz by introducing a much improved algorithm that better blends tough content with new recordings. It also no longer saves your review progress to the server, but instead keeps that information per device so that you can safely do review even while offline. In order to make this possible, we've moved the ability to edit transcripts out of the quiz. We've also replaced the checklist for active listening steps with a simple informational list.
Please understand that using Immerse on multiple devices simultaneously, especially if one or more devices don't have a reliable internet connection, can still result in data loss. In the balance, as a result of these improvements to the quiz, we feel confident enough to remove the single device lock, but with great power comes great responsibility. Always check the progress spinner on your devices to make sure changes are synced to the server before doing any significant work on a different device.
